Your answers suggest your breathing is generally working well for you, with few signs of an unhelpful breathing pattern — which is great news. Even so, breathwork and respiratory physiotherapy aren't only for problems: learning a calm, efficient, diaphragm-led breathing pattern can help you stay resilient during stress, illness and exercise, and catch small habits before they take hold. If your symptoms ever change, it's worth checking back in.

Your answers suggest some signs that your breathing pattern may not be working as efficiently as it could, which can contribute to things like breathlessness, tension, poor sleep or fatigue. This is common and tends to respond well to support. Respiratory physiotherapy and breathing retraining can assess how you breathe and teach you techniques to restore a calmer, more efficient pattern — with many people noticing a difference within a few weeks of regular practice.

Take A Breath Physio offers a unique service to those who have breathing difficulties. As a Respiratory Physiotherapist, I understand the importance good breathing has on health and lifestyle. Based in beautiful North Devon, I can offer face to face appointments or if you are further afield, virtual consultations.
Respiratory Physiotherapy can empower you to fully understand your condition, allowing you to take control. In doing so, treatment can reduce your breathlessness, control cough, help maintain clear lungs and most importantly allowing you to return to the lifestyle you love the most.
Lucy has helped me so much. I had a horrid painful cough after being hospitalised with pneumonia, asthma and other health conditions, that I had exhausted all the help through NHS.. Lucy knew exactly what I was suffering with and endeavoured to put in place so many linked helping strategies toward recovering this debilitating condition. Lucy even identified drugs that were causing me problems, she is overall so knowledgeable, kind and caring.. an amazing practitioner. I am so grateful.
I came to Lucy in a state of panic, I felt like I couldn't breathe and was suffering with air hunger, after 3 sessions with Lucy she has signed me off, I am feeling like a completely different person and am finally starting to feel like myself again. Lucy is kind, understanding and a great laugh. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Thank you for everything xxx
I have been to see Lucy a number of times. She is very easy to talk to, is friendly and professional. She listens to what you have to say with regard to symptoms and also feedback from therapies you have tried. She will “pick” at the problem” until satisfactory solutions are found, I highly recommend her.
I joined Lucy’s class nearly two years ago. I initially needed help with a frozen shoulder. However since then I have improved my flexibility, balance and strength.
I can’t recommend her classes enough, she is extremely helpful and informative about any extra help you may require or adaptions to any of the exercises.
I never write testimonials but I cannot recommend Lucy highly enough. Quite simply Lucy kept me believing things will get better these last few months. After several failed GP and emergency care trips and being told there was nothing medically wrong with me I had honestly lost hope.
From our first meeting I started feeling more positive. Lucy understood, gave me a diagnosis ,explained and gave encouragement. It’s a long road but working on the plan and simple exercises each week I am making huge progress. Lucy is professional, knowledgeable, approachable and encouraging, I always feel better after our meetings!
Never has a post been more timely than when I'm next to two snotty children - hello Hayfever my old friend! The nose is the gateway to the lungs: ▫️ It warms the air so that when it reaches the lungs it is nearly body temperature. ▫️ It humidifies the air making it more moist and therefore supportive of lung tissue which needs moister. ▫️ It cleaners and filters, nostril hair and further back cillia help to pick up foreign bodies as they are breathed in. ▫️ It helps produce nitrous oxide, a natural dilator of the lungs and helps blood vessels swell to deliver more blood, in turn picking up more oxygen. I recommend @neilmed_uki sinus rinse, NOT an AD, I just like it and find it very easy to deliver a good consistent flow. Nasal rinsing. You keep your teeth clean so why not do the same with your nose? #nose #snot #nasalbreathing #neilmed

Never had a post felt more timely as I'm sat here writing this as I sit next to two snuffling children, thank you Hayfever! In this clip I have used the @neilmed_uki (not an Ad, I just like it and therefore recommend it) Remember nasal breathing is important for: ▫️ Cleaning and filtering air before it reaches the lungs ▫️ Humidifying the air ▫️ Warming the air so that it's near body temperature by the time it reaches the lungs reducing hypersensitivity in the throat and lungs ▫️ Producing low level nitrous oxide to help open airways and expand blood vessels to improve oxygen take up. A little bit of science for a Sunday and yes I'm going to wash some little noses! Nasal rinsing, it's great, try it, and if it's not for you, that's cool too. #neilmed #sinusnrinse #breath #hayfever
Feedback from patients is always the cherry on the cake! 🍒 Yes, outcome measures show improvement in clients but what really matters is how someone feels. Improve their quality of life, and make a positive difference. It's why I chose physio, My lived experience is why I chose respiratory. My passion is why I love helping people feel better and putting a smile back on their face. #physio #respiratory #breath #cough #takeabreathphysio
Rib flare isnt just posture - it's breathing, it's stability, it's movement mechanics. Earlier this week @daviniataylor posted about her journey, discovering rib flare and the impact it has on her training and over all comfort. Pregnancy, overhead workouts/work, poor posture, spinal changes or mal alignment, muscular imbalance or weakness all contribute. In fact the list is endless. It affects men and women and getting the right assessment and diagnosis is critical. Shining light on this very overlooked element is so important. It's a huge puzzle piece in the performance of the human body and a game changer if treated correctly. #breath #core #postpartum #takeabreathphysio
